THIS year's Hot Chilli Big T Triathlon got a little bigger on Bank Holiday Monday with more than 320 athletes taking part in the Trowbridge event, held in sweltering conditions.

As well as the sprint and enduro events, 64 children took part in an Aquathlon in five age groups, with all events taking place out of the Trowbridge Sports Centre

The Hot Chilli club also employed a British Triathlon technical official for the first time and are hoping to be nominated for a regional recognition by the sport's governing body.

In the sprint event - 400m swim, 25k bike ride, 5k run - there was a win for the host club's Harry Webb, with Ashia Fenwick, of Bath Amphibians, finishing as top female.

John Monaghan and Warminster's Leanne Hier were the respective senior male and female winners in the sprint event, with Jack Wosika, of the local Team Proto-col Multisport outfit finishing 12th overall and the top U23 male competitor and Katy Dunne doing likewise in the female category.

Wosika's sister Caitlin was 17th overall, second female home and first in her age group, having recorded one of the fastest swim splits.

Top veterans were Andy Noakes and Vanessa Lucas.

The enduro event featured a 600m swim, 48k bike ride and 10k run and was won by Freshford's Max Hazell, with Josie Rawes finishing as the top female competitor.

Joey Rossi and Maddie Heywood were the top senior competitors with the veterans being led by Tim Lenwill and Georgina Crawshaw and Fred Windsor heading the U23s.

Prizes were presented by Ashley Hutchinson, chairman of Triathlon England South West, and Rachel Bown, the inclusivity officer for Triathlon England South West.
