TROWBRIDGE Town Ladies are celebrating a league title success in just their second season as a club.

The team claimed a 1-1 draw against Melksham Town Ladies in their final league game last Wednesday night, with the point gained enough to seal the Wiltshire County Women’s & Girls League title on goal difference.

Trowbridge were only beaten once in the league campaign, finishing with 49 points from 18 games - exactly the same record as runners-up Laverstock & Ford.

Manager Tim Fry is now hoping his side’s efforts will be rewarded with promotion to the East Division of the South West Counties League.

Fry said: “We have only been going for two seasons, so this really is a fantastic achievement by the team.

“I have been running the team since U8s and we have progressed all the way through. After we finished at U17s, the natural step was to go into open age football.

“We know Trowbridge Wanderers have been running a team for a while, but we want to establish a really strong ladies team in the town.

“We have a really good group, and about half-a-dozen of that team from U8s are still playing, which is great.”

The team are always looking for new players and anyone interested can contact Fry on 07711 124317 or by email via tim_fry@sky.com.
