FORMER Bradford Town manager Danny Greaves says he feels the club are in a better place then when he arrived at Trowbridge Road as he departs for Frome Town.

Greaves revealed he would join the Southern League Premier Division side via social media last Friday.

Frome have been manager-less since the beginning of April after boss Josh Jefferies stepped down from the position.

Greaves, who spent two years with the Toolstation League Premier Division outfit, has seen year on year progress in his tenure, with back-to-back record points tallies.

This year, the Bobcats came fourth in the league, as well as getting through to the fifth-round of the FA Vase.

The Bradford manager told the Wiltshire Times it was a difficult decision to leave the club and move on to Frome.

“It was a tough decision to leave Bradford because I have had two really good years there. I’ve met a lot of good people and felt we weren’t too far away from promotion,” he said.

“An opportunity has arisen. It is a chance for me to go and manage a really big club in the area, two leagues higher.

“It’s one of those things. It’s a good fit at the right time for me. I’ve had a brilliant couple of years there (Bradford).

“I think it was well publicised that they had no players left, had a reduced budget from the season before and we had to build a squad.

“We had a record-breaking season that year, finished fifth, then we strengthened and kicked on this season.

“Any manager going into a club, their aim is to leave them in a better place then when they found them. I’d like to think that I have done that.

“To be fair, the club was in a good position when I went there. Hopefully, I have been able to take it on a notch.”

Looking ahead to his new challenge, Greaves is fully aware of the job at hand when he arrives at Blindman’s Brewery Stadium.

The Somerset side are in a similar situation to when Greaves arrived at Bradford, after a number of players left the club.

“It seems to be in a similar place to Bradford when I went there. My first aim is to speak to as many players as possible,” he added.

“The manager who was there before has done a great job with them, built a good squad so hopefully they’ll want to stay on again.

“It will be a challenging few weeks trying to build a squad who are capable of challenging on the league next season.”
