After a large restocking early last week at Chew Valley bank and boat fishing improved quickly.
Anglers have found fish very close inshore at Wick, Nunnery, Woodford, Walley and North Shore. Although early morning and late evening have been best these fish can often be caught during the daytime if there is any cloud cover.
Most Days the fish were to be found very close to the surface and could be taken on dries and emergers.
Sometimes on the brightest days the fish would move into deeper water but still could be taken on nymphs fished well down. Boat fishermen are still finding plenty of fish in the main basin but Woodford and Wick Green have also fished very well.
Best fish of the week was a 6 lb 4 oz rainbow taken by Nigel Sommerfield from a boat in Villice Bay. At the start of the new week another big brown trout was taken by Glyn Williams when he landed a fine 9 lb 4 oz specimen on a Diawl Bach from Roman Shallows.
It was difficult fishing at the start of the week at Blagdon but once the stock fish had settled down sport improved quickly from most areas of the lake.
Although weed can be a bit of a problem in places, Butcombe, North Shore, the Firs and Green Lawn are all fishing well especially early and late.
Boats have dome well in Butcombe, along the North bank and Long Bay.
There have been good sedge hatches and a dry sedge is well worth a try, but most anglers have found success with small Diawl Bachs, black buzzers and other small nymphs fished just sub surface.
At the Barrows all tanks are now fishing very well and consistently.
Although the mouse is still catching well anglers who0 are trying small nymphs and dries are catching consistently.
Fishing along the windward shore in a light breeze is often the place to find fish very close in as they feed on insects blown across the reservoir.
Although dries work well for moving fish they can sometimes be a little frustrating when they seem to ignore your offering.
If this happens try pulling your dries creating a wake or even try a small bright or white lure pulled quickly in front of the fish.
Chew produced a total catch of 903 fish last week averaging 2 lb 5 oz topped by a brown of 3 lb 9 oz and rainbow 6 lb 4 oz with 39 limits.
At Blagdon 606 fish averaging 2 lb 7 oz were taken topped b y a brown of 4 lb 12 oz and rainbow 3 lb 12 oz with 24 limits.
The Barrows yielded 259 fish averaging 1 lb 9 oz topped by a brown of 2 lb 15 oz and rainbow 4 lb 1 oz.

Paul Proctor took a five fish limit bag weighing 15 lb 1 oz topped with a fine 5 lb 4 oz rainbow.
Pete Claypole took a five fish bag for 14 lb 11 oz.
Sutton Bingham catches were down somewhat last week at 283 where fishing is getting harder owing to the trout now feeding on pin fry in the margins.
From the boats and in the deeper parts from the bank fish are still being caught on Pheasant Tails, Buzzers and Diawl Bach.
Otherwise its been Fry imitations. Top bag of five fish was a 13 lb 4 oz catch taken from a boat by Mike Cruikshanks and with John Lewandowski shared the best weight fish of 4 lb 2 oz.
