CRICKET: Wiltshire reach Trophy last four

WILTSHIRE are through to the last four of the MCCA Knockout Trophy after clinching a five-wicket victory in the final over against Devon in today's last-eight clash at Corsham.

The home side successfully chased down their visitors' total of 258 to book a last-four trip to Staffordshire on July 1.

Having won the toss, Wiltshire put their opponents in to bat, but struggled early on as the Devon opening pair of Robert Woodman (52) and Rob Holman (39) put on 108 for the first wicket.

Both departed as victims of Owen Alsop (2-56) and, helped by the bowling of Mukesh Bhatt (2-17), the hosts continued to make inroads into the Devon order.

Wicketkeeper Matthew Thompson added 53in the middle order but Corsham's Ashur Morrison took 3-53 as the innings ended on 258-9.

Wiltshire openers Ed Kilbee and Jayden Levitt gave their side a solid start, taking the score to 96 before Levitt departed for 47.

Wicketkeeper Steve Bullen was soon back in the pavilion without scoring but the arrival of skipper Joe Breet swung the match in Wiltshire's favour.

He shared a partnership of 63 with Kilbee before the Goatacre man was out for 73.

Henry Langford (31) joined Breet and added another 71 for the fourth wicket and when Breet departed for 83, it was left to Morrison and Tom Bowler to see Wiltshire home.
