SNOOKER: Lee fight back in Australia

STEPHEN Lee battled back from a three-frame deficit to book his place in the last 16 of the Australian Goldfields Open in Victoria yesterday.

The world number eight, from Trowbridge, trailed 3-0 in the best of nine encounter with Rory McLeod, who is ranked 30 places below him.

But Lee, who looked to be having trouble with his cue tip, made it 3-1 at the interval before taking the lead with scores of 105, 69 and 50.

McLeod replied with a 72 to take the contest to a deciding frame, but Lee came through to book a clash against world number 27 Jamie Cope, who defeated Ricky Walden 5-4.
