BOWLS: Box still in it

BOX are still on course to reach the final stages of the Women’s National Top Club competition again.

Three times in the past four seasons they have qualified for the last eight at Torquay finishing fifth in 2008 and third twice in the past two years when beaten in the semi-finals by the eventual winners.

In 2012 the final stages of the Top Club competition have been switched to Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa, on the weekend of September 15-16 and Box Ladies are just one match away from qualifying.

They defeated Cornwish side Chacewater (Truro) in the last 32 at Tiverton West End, Devon last Saturday 71-66.

Box now meet Ross on Wye, Hereford or Poole Park, Dorset, in the 2nd inter-county round (last 16), one step away from reaching Leamington and the last eight and final stages once more.
