RUGBY: Westbury 11 North Dorset 2nd 17

WESTBURY improved on their previous week’s humbling against Salisbury 2nd, but still slipped to defeat in their first home match.

North Dorset scored two first-half tries, converting once to take a 12-0 interval lead.

But Westbury, buoyed by new coach Michael Bamsey, hit back after the break as scrum-half Nick Bourne booted two penalties.

With makeshift fly-half Damien Crinion settling in, strong carries from inside centre Darren Fuller and Lee Moore drove the home side forward, but Dorset were next on the board with their third try.

The hosts then took control as Fuller drew two defenders and sent winger Aaron Vaughan over for his first try for the club.
