RUGBY: Wimborne 31 Trowbridge 13

TROWBRIDGE’S foray into the county cup ended at the first hurdle as in-form Wimborne booked a semi final spot.

The early stalemate was broken when Wimborne’s Russell Tinsdale went over in the corner after 14 minutes.

Lloyd Davis reduced arrears with a penalty and they took the lead when Nick Little broke a tackle to go under the posts and Davis converted.

The home side responded almost straightaway with the first of two tries for winger Tom Brokenshire, full-back Jamie Tryska converting.

Davis’ second penalty put Trowbridge back in front but just before half time, Brokenshire scored his second try.

Wimborne made several changes at the start of the second half, and were rewarded by a debut try from second row Rob Best, Tryska convering, as he did with a late interception score for the home side.
