Talented Melksham canoeist Lucie Finch has been awarded a grant by
her town's Rotary Club and charity SportsAid South West to help her achieve
her dreams.
Lucie, 14, who is number one in Great Britain for under 14 girls, received
the award from the Rotary Club of Melksham.
The Rotary Club matched SportsAid's donation to give Lucie a total of £500,
to help pay for her coaching, travel and equipment.
Lucie hopes to represent Great Britain in the ladies' junior wild water
racing team this season.
She won four youth championship events last season at the Nene 1, Derwent
Dash, Chester Dee and the Avon Sprint.
SportsAid has been helping youngsters realise their sporting dreams for over
30 years and has distributed nearly £20million.
The charity funds approximately 2,500 youngsters every year.
