Dodd leads Harriers’ challenge
 |
| Paul Dodd (18655/9) |
Chippenham Harriers turned out in large numbers at the Corsham
10km race.
A total of 45 Harriers competed, with both the men's and women's teams
taking second spot behind Team Bath.
Paul Dodd led home the Harriers clocking 37 minutes for fifth overall and
first super vet over 50. Dodd's time was also an age group record for the
course by 40 seconds.
Dodd said: "I was expecting a nice cool, possibly wet run and was hoping to
smash the V50 course record of 37:40 by around a minute. It was
unfortunately far too hot for racing. Many I spoke to were surprised by
their times - expecting to go quicker by between 15-45 seconds. In the end I
did 37:00 and was fifth overall, but more importantly for me first MV50."
Dodd was supported by Andrew Holdsworth (37:39), Richard Schofield (37:52)
and Jeremy Coward (38:23) in the team race.
Best Harrier lady was Debbie Jones in 42:24 for fourth lady overall. The
ladies' team was completed by Diana Tabley (43:44), Sarah Strange (45:24)
and Charlotte Watkins (45:58).
The men's race was won by Team Bath's Paul Synnott in 35:30 and the ladies'
race by Georgia Wood in 38:30.
