ANDY Beal (Salisbury and South Wilts) ended on three over par to win the 33rd Hills Wiltshire Professionals Golf Championship for the fourth time in the last 22 years at Marlborough GC yesterday.

The 36-hole event saw 17 professionals teeing off in misty damp conditions with a fairly strong wind.

After the first round, Bowood’s Nick Brennan was heading the field, after carding a one under par 71 with Paul Morss, of Cumberwell Park, in second place on par with 72.

Beal was fifth, tied with Iain Ferrie (West Wilts).

The second round proved more challenging, with the temperature rising and the wind getting stronger.

But Beal faced up to the conditions to finish the second round with a superb two under par 70.

Second place was tied between Brennan, Ben Lloyd (Cumberwell Park) and Tim Meischer (Bowood), who was making his debut at this year’s tournament, all finishing on seven over par.

Fifth place went to John Jacobs (Cumberwell Park) on 10 over with Mark Searle (High Post), Graham Laing (North Wilts) and Craig Bell (Ogbourne Down) a further shot back.
