STEVE Surry narrowly failed to make it back-to-back wins on the Jamega Tour despite a stunning second round at the latest event at Montmore-Rosebery.
Trowbridge pro Surry, who won at the Vale of Glamorgan event last week, shot a superb 63 in his second 18, only to then lose out to Wentworth's Curtus Griffiths on the second hole of a sudden-death play-off.
Cumberwell Park's Surry was back in the field at one over par after the opening round, but then shot nine under for the second to tie with Griffiths on eight under par.
After halving the first play-off hole in par, Griffiths sank a winning birdie at the par four 11th for his first professional win.
Bowood’s Sam Matton carded four-under to claim a share of seventh.
Surry starts his bid for a European Tour card at the first stage of qualifying school in early October.
