LAURIE Canter’s second round at the BMW SA Open was curtailed by the elements this afternoon as the threat of lightning halted play for the day.
The 26-year-old Cumberwell Park pro, who earned his European Tour card by finishing inside the top 25 at the qualifying school finals in Spain last November, stands 19th in the leaderboard after play was suspended until Saturday morning.
Starting on the back nine, Canter was solid throughout, making par through all-but-one hole of his opening half-round, a bogey on the par-four 11th providing the only blot to his copybook.
The Cumberwell Park man, who shot a three-under 69 on Thursday, had also made par on the first hole before his round was brought to a premature end.
Canter will resume on the par-five second tomorrow, with play beginning again at 4.30am UK time.
