CUMBERWELL Park professionals Laurie Canter and Steve Surry are back in competitive action this week.

Canter, 26, will resume his maiden full season on the European Tour by teeing it up alongside the likes of Sergio Garcia at the Open De Espana at Valderama, the tournament getting under way tomorrow morning.

Clubmate Surry meanwhile, is tasting action back on southern Africa's Sunshine Tour, taking part in the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open at the Royal Harare Golf Club, that tournament also getting under way tomorrow.

Meanwhile East Knoyle player Ben Stow boosted his hopes of a successful season by finishing tied second at the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour Qualifying School Final Stage last week.

The 24 year old, based at the Rushmore club on the Wiltshire/Dorset border finished one behind wire-to-wire winner Billy Downing (Truro Golf Club) to earn himself a top category rating for the new season on the tour - third third tier of European golf.

The 2016 HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour season gets underway back at Frilford Heath in mid-May.
