CUMBERWELL Park youngster James Cooper helped England’s U16 boys score another big win in their autumn international series by defeating Scotland 17.5-7.5 at Rockliffe Hall Golf Club, Durham.
England have already beaten Wales 15-5 and will play Ireland early next month. Another win there will see them repeat last year’s record of three victories in these matches.
The match began with individual strokeplay games which England won 7-3. This was followed by foursomes which England won 4-1, and by individual matchplay which England won 6.5-3.5.
Hilperton's Cooper will join Barclay Brown (Yorkshire), Charlie Daughtrey (Rotherham), Michael Gilbert (Chelmsford), Conor Gough (Staffordshire), Hugo Kedzlie (Spalding), Callum Macfie (Yorkshire) and Wiltshire colleague Tom Stagg (Salisbury & South Wilts) when England play Ireland at Castletown on October 8-9.
