SEONA Mauchline claimed the county crown for a second year in a row with an impressive victory at the Hills Junior County Championship.
Mauchline, from High Post, in Salisbury, followed up her triumph in 2015 by winning the girls’ title yet again with a gross score of 84 at North Wilts Golf Club, with Laura Curtis, of Cumberwell Park second (87) and Broome Manor’s Olivia Bannon third (95).
In the boys’ section, the top three players were separated by just a single shot but 12-year-old Thomas Scullion, from Upavon, reigned with a score of 78, with Chippenham’s Bradley Rossiter (79) and Manor House’s Dominic Samra (79) second and third.
Meanwhile, the best nett score of the day from the 34 players that undertook a full 18 holes came from The Wiltshire Golf Club’s Benjamin Mazzotta, who scored 65, with Bowood’s Alex Milham second (67) and Dominic Piggott third (68).
Alan Pardoe, chairman of sponsors the Hills Group, said: “It is always great to see the young golfers putting on such a good show. Thanks go to North Wilts and the Wiltshire County Golf Union for coordinating the event.”
