CUMBERWELL Park will have two representatives in this week's European Tour event in South Africa after Steve Surry earned a place in the Joburg Open, which gets under way tomorrow morning.

Surry birdied the first play-off hole after carding a three-under-par round of 69 at Houghton Golf Club to earn one of the 15 available spots available for the main co-sanctioned European Tour and Sunshine Tour competition at today's delayed qualifying event.

Sunshine Tour member Surry joins Cumberwell clubmate Laurie Canter, who was already safely in the event as a 2017 European Tour card holder, in the 210-strong field at the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington GC, and will tee off at 9am tomorrow, with play taking place on two courses.

Fellow Wiltshire player Jordan Smith, who was third in the BMW SA Open last month, and has since added another top 10 finish in what is the Derry Hill player's first full season on the European Tour is also in the field.

Swindon's two-time Ryder Cup star David Howell also tees it up this week, with the top three finishers at the event not already exempt who finish in the top ten this week earning places at the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in July.
