WEST Wilts Ladies 1st XI played out an entertaining 2-2 draw when they faced Wimborne.

Wilts were on the back foot early on and Wimborne opened the scoring inside 30 seconds.

Although this seemed to wake the Wilts players up, it could not help them keep out a second Wimborne goal.

Wilts upped their game and pulled a goal back just before half-time. Livie Evans played a long pass to Fiona Pridham, who showed silky skills to beat a couple of defenders and hit the back of the net.

They showed plenty of fighting spirit again in the second half, although Wimborne put up a tough defensive effort despite not having a keeper.

Kayleigh Pothercary made several good saves at the other end before Shana and Ellie combined to find Pridham, who scored her second to level the game.

Wilts then thought they had snatched a winner but the post denied Pridham her hat-trick.

Meanwhile, the 3rd XI were impressive 4-1 winners away at Knowle 2nd despite being reduced to nine players and again lacking a goalkeeper.

Wilts started confidently, with Sally Ford distributing intelligently from midfield, and Natalie Scott providing width on the wing.

A well-timed cross from Nic Ilic set up the first goal for Sally Webb and, soon afterwards, a superb solo run from Nikki Ford allowed her to make it 2-0.

At the other end, Knowle were awarded a short corner but Sally Sheppard made an excellent save on the line.

Tidy and fluent play saw Jess Agate and Suzi Agate combine well and just before half-time Ilic smacked home to make it 3-0.

Ilic grabbed her second of the game early in the second half, following up from the keeper’s half-clearance.

Tanya Jackson kept things tidy at the back for Wilts but ten minutes from time, Knowle managed to convert a short corner.

Wilts did not let that hold them back, though, and finished the game on top, with Nikki Ford having two efforts saved while Ilic saw another hit the post.
