WEST Wilts captain Dave Jeffreys is hoping that his side can build on a successful campaign last season when they get underway in the Premier Division 3.
West Wilts aren’t in action on the opening day of the season tomorrow and instead host Blandford & Sturminster in a friendly.
Jeffreys’ side managed a sixth-placed finish last season and the skipper hopes that success can continue.
“We revamped the way we’d been playing from the year before and it was a very successful year for us,” said Jeffreys.
“We want to finish in the top-half of the table and maybe even push for promotion.”
Paul Frickler, Mark Brothers and Jonny Humphries have all joined the club.
Chippenham skipper Nigel Stonham is expecting a tough season for his side in North Division 2.
Forwards Ben Copland and Scott Raynor have left the club but Chippenham have added midfielder Mike Dodd to their ranks.
“I’m hoping that with a stronger midfield, we’ll be able to win a few of the battles and push more for promotion,” said Stonham.
“Last season was a good one for us because we consolidated and didn’t get relegated again.
“I think it will be very challenging this year.”
Chippenham start the campaign at Team Bath Buccaneers C.
