CHIPPENHAM got their 2010/11 season off to a flying start with a convincing win over their local rivals Team Bath.
With both teams looking to play open and attacking hockey it was the away team’s swift, counter-attacking abililty which saw them eventually cruise to victory.
Chippenham took the lead midway through the first half, as a well-worked short corner found Luke Morris at the far post, whose deflected shot rose high into the roof of the net to break the deadlock.
Harry Elias then scored two goals in quick succession to give Chippenham an unassailable advantage. A solid defensive play left the Chippenham goalkeeper Howard Simons with little to do for most of the game and it wasn’t long before another counter attack by Chippenham left Elias at the far post with an easy tap in to complete his hat-trick.
With the clock ticking down and five minutes left, Team Buccs converted a short corner to give them a consolation goal.
