CHIPPENHAM Ladies made an encouraging start to the new premier Two season, but succumbed to a late Yate goal to end the game empty-handed. Following the free-flowing opening exchanges, where both teams created chances to score, it was Chippenham who took the lead, after a fine shot from forward Sabina Falcone .
However, two quick-fire goals for Yate before half-time left Chippenham ruing missed opportunities.
The visitors changed their tactics in the second half and a switch in position saw newcomer Claire Widger put on a solid display on the left of defence, earning her the Player of the Match award.
But despite the team's increased intensity they conceded again with 10 minutes to go, although a spectacular strike from Tracy Davies prolonged the contest to the final whistle.
CHIPPENHAM Ladies 4th drew 0-0 with Thornbury Ladies, Alex Buckland and Ann Tweedale with fine performances.
