Pictor leads scoring spree

West Wilts 6ths 9, Shepton Mallet B 0

THIS result was the fulfilment of the potential this team have shown inconsistently over the season.

The return of Nick Bundy alongside Liam Beattie in the middle created moves that allowed the forwards to dominate.

Shepton Mallet didn't have a full side but were nonetheless an experienced outfit.

The backs were sorely missing Alan Spires and Chris Hackett due to injury, but with Andy Bedford in inspired form the visitors had little opportunity to score.

At half-time goals from Clive Warren, Nick Bundy and Sam Pictor had put the home side in a comfortable position. The second half was more creative with some fine play from Hugh Newmarche and Paul Ireland had several near misses in front of goal.

Pictor bagged another three goals and Warren and Bundy added to their first half tally. Terry Evans came up from sweeper to make it nine.

This was a good team performance which gives the team some hope of an improved league position next season.
