Turner hits hat-trick for new champions

West Wilts 2nds 4, Marlborough 2nds 2
WEST Wilts 2nds won their final league game of the season to confirm
themselves as Avon Division champions.
Wilts started brightly and after 15 minutes Shah Aissaoui deflected in a
short corner strike from Gavin Cleverley to give them the lead.
Marlborough created a few openings but with half-time approaching West Wilts
went 2-0 up with a goal from John Turner.
The second half struggled to get going until Marlborough made it 2-1 and
this seemed to give them a second wind and they started to take control of
the midfield. They were rewarded with an equaliser with 15 minutes to go but
then shot themselves in the foot when they lost a man to the sin-bin.
This gave control back to West Wilts and a good move down the left saw John
Turner force home his second goal of the afternoon.
With the final whistle approaching Turner collected his hat-trick to give
West Wilts the all important three points.
This was a highly successful league season for the team, who can now look
forward to some cup hockey to finish off the season.
