Chipwrecks beat favourites in final

Chippenham Veterans 6, West Wilts Veterans 3

CHIPPENHAM hit back from conceding a goal in the first 30 seconds to beat the favourites, West Wilts, in the final of the veterans' county cup.

West Wilts took the early lead with a well-taken solo effort, following a 20 yard dribble and top of the circle shot.

The early set-back simply encouraged Chippenham to turn on the style and they had the luxury to have players who were able to slow the game down, pass with accuracy and out-pace the opposition. These skills were to prove the deciding factor over the 70 minutes.

Chippenham scored three times before half-time, Hadland, Law and Gould scoring a goal apiece.

In the second half Gould grabbed his second goal, Hunt scored the fifth and Ward followed up a short corner to score goal number six.

Toby Brown, the county organiser, said: "I have not seen such a balanced and well drilled display from a Chippenham team in many years. It is a pleasure to hand them the silverware."
