I'VE got what looks like a muscle tear in the lower back. Every time I bend down and straighten up I get sharp pains.
I've had back problems before and every now and then I go through two or three days where I'm in absolute agony. The physio seems to think it's an old injury and though the top of my back has got lots of knots in, the injury could come from anywhere. This is the first time I've had a physio working on my back. The physio has been working on it lots and lots, trying to free the muscle up and getting blood and warmth into it.
I'm okay doing everything on a daily basis but I can't do crouching and moving quickly, like in wicketkeeping. On Saturday we were going to wait as long as possible and basically I moved sharply first thing in the morning, and I had a searing pain go through my back. I can get around and can probably play in the team as a batter but wicketkeeping is definitely out of the question. The only other serious injuries I've had were groin injuries incurred playing football that kept me out for at least one season.
