3:18pm Monday 12th November 2007

Melksham Town Youth Saints gave a very good all-round team performance to take three points from leaders Chippenham Town Youth White in their Under Nines Blue Division match.

Kai Bush scored the only goal in a competitive but good natured match for the Saints' third win in as many weeks.

WESTBURY Youth Lions created a number of chances in the first half against visitors Bradford Town Youth A but good goalkeeping and a well converted corner by Tom Hughes put the visitors 1-0 ahead at half-time.

Westbury's pressure increased after the break, with Henry Bilsdon scoring the equaliser from a loose ball after an initial save by the Bradford goalkeeper.

Charlie Savage had a great game at the back for Westbury, giving Bradford few chances. A quick throw put Ben Starr through with just the goalkeeper to beat and a left footed strike gave Westbury the win.

Trowbridge Wanderers and Melksham Park played a very hard game dominated by the defences.

Melksham Park thought they had taken an early lead through Sam Robinson but the ball was adjudged not to have crossed the line.

Trowbridge Wanderers then put pressure on, forcing two corners and Jamie Philips hitting the post.

In the second half Melksham gradually forced Trowbridge on the defence and hit the post and crossbar. Another claim for a goal was turned down ending the game in frustration for Melksham.

Will Fish and Tommy Ireland were superb in Melksham's back line with Harry Huish doing a great job in goal.

The man-of-the-match award went to Will Fish Trowbridge Town Youth earned their first three points of the season by running out 1-0 winners at home to Devizes Town Youth A.

Trowbridge goalkeeper William Hampton made several crucial saves for Trowbridge to hold out for the win.

THREE clinical finishes in the first half sealed victory for Castle Combe Colts at White Horse Juniors.

White Horse came back strongly in the second half with a goal from Luke Child and were denied a second goal by the woodwork.

Castle Combe always looked dangerous on the break, testing goalkeeper Charlie Doyle in injury time but he pulled off a great save as Combe won 3-1.

Alex Randall, James Onley and Charlie Baines scored for Castle Combe.

Melksham Town Youth Robins ran out 5-3 winners in their away game against Trowbridge Town Youth C. Joe Wood (2), Zac Hillier and George Evans (2) scored for the Robins, with Ciaran Taylor and Charlie Jones (2) replying for Trowbridge.

Under Nines Red Division

SAM Cocks put Westbury Youth Tigers in front with an early goal against Melksham Park.

Great defending from Hallam Clark ensured Westbury held on to the lead at half-time, but Melksham's continued pressure after the break paid off with an equaliser.

Westbury goalkeeper Jamie Long then picked up an unfortunate injury putting him out of the game and seeing substitute keeper Cocks in goal from midway through the second half.

Westbury's defence proved difficult to break down and the game looked certain to end in a draw until Melksham scored a late winner to steal the game.

Jack Laundon (2) scored for Melksham, with Harry Church their man-of-the-match.

Mere took full advantage of an understrength Melksham Town Youth Magpies team in a wind effected game which ended 9-0 to Mere.

The strong wind played an important part in the first half but all credit to Mere who had some fabulous strikes on goal and some fine saves by Euan and solid defending by Will P helped keep the score in single figures.

Mere's goals came from Jack Tucker (5), Jack Harvey (2) and William Thorpe.

Thomas Milnes gave Devizes Town Youth B a 1-0 lead at the break against visitors AFC Calne. Alex Taylor made it 2-0, with a late goal from the visitors ending the game at 2-1 to Devizes.
