WILTSHIRE eventers Andrew Nicholson and Jonelle Richards clinched an Olympic medal today as New Zealand won team bronze at Greenwich Park.

Marlborough-based Nicholson produced a superb clear round on horse Nereo in the showjumping phase to help his team on to the podium, after Richards had also gone clear but added 9.00 time penalties earlier.

Germany took the team gold medal, with Great Britain's team of Tina Cook, William Fox-Pitt, Mary King, Zara Phillips and Nicola Wilson clinching the silver medal.

Nicholson's round was also enough to qualify him for this afternoon's individual final, in which he moved up a couple of places, finishing fourth just outside the medals.

Germany's World and European champion Michael Jung took gold, while Badbury-based Andrew Hoy, representing Australia, 13th.

Hoy's Little Cheverell-based compatriot Lucinda Fredericks, whose husband Clayton had been eliminated on the cross country section yesterday, produced a near-faultless round on Flying Finish to end 35th.

Brazilian Marcelo Tosi, who based himself in Marston in Devizes ahead of the Games, was 44th on Eleda All Black, while Alex Peternell, riding for South Africa but based at Hinton near Chippenham, was 49th on Asih.
