DIVISION ONE ROUNDUP: Blue Circle off the mark

Blue Circle 4 Semington Magpies 3

Blue Circle hosted Semington Magpies and recorded their first win of the season.

Benni McCarthy opened the scoring for the Cement men but, by half time, Semington were on level terms as Nathan Keegan equalised.

The second half saw the Magpies take the lead as Matthew Russell scored, but their joy was shortlived as Circle were awarded a penalty which was dispatched by Daryl Maxwell.

Ten minutes later the home side regained the lead as Dean Osment tapped in from close range.

With time running out, Semington conceded another penalty, Maxwell scoring a second to make it 4-2.

In stoppage time Semington made it 4-3 as Keegan netted his second, but it turned out to be the last kick of the match.

Bradford United 4 The Deverills 3

BRADFORD United made it two wins out of two as they won by the odd goal in seven against The Deverills.

Simon Pickett put the home side in front after only 10 minutes, but it was The Deverills who went in at the break in front thanks to a brace of goals from Aarron Stevens.

Nick Bunyard made it 3-1 to the visitors with the second period only a few minutes old, but this only served to kick-start the John Baker show into motion.

By the end of the match he had completed a hat-trick to give Bradford victory.

Bromham 0 Frome Town Sports 2

Bromham are still without a point this season after losing at home to Frome Town, Frank Alexander and Damien Edwards getting the goals.

Broughton FC 3 Trowbridge Wanderers 7

TROWBRIDGE Wanderers romped home in a 10-goal thriller, taking advantage of a fast start as Tom Pang squared for Jamie Moth to score their first of the season.

Pang then banged in his first of the match after a sublime ball from Charlie Heydon and scored again as the visitors dominated.

Moth soon made it four as Pang again headed back for him to smash home his second of the game.

Prolific Pang completed his hat-trick in the first half, delightfully lobbing the keeper from 25 yards. Seconds before the end of the half, Chris Brady impeded the Broughton striker and the ref pointed to the spot, Chris Turk calmly slotting home to make the half-time score 5-1.

Wanderers came out sluggish for the second half and Broughton capitalised when Turk again made his second, direct from a corner.

But the goal of the day came from Ross Pike, on his Wanderers debut, a superb strike into the top corner.

Pang, who had by now scored three and set up two, completed his scoring when he buried his four and the team's seventh. Winless Broughton scored another late consolation.

Freshford United 6 Trowbridge Town A 2 FRESHFORD United went top of the pile, Mike Little scoring midway through the first half to give the home side the advantage at the interval.

Trowbridge levelled the match five minutes after the restart as Craig Sheppard netted.

Tom Parr then put Trowbridge in front, before Mark Birleson scored two and Mike Little bagged another three for Freshford.

Lavington 3 Steeple Ashton 2

LAVINGTON fought back from 2-0 down to clinch victory.

Great work by Marc Sheppard set Rueben Spong free to give Ashton the lead 13 minute in.

Mortimer then made it two after following up his initial shot.

With four minutes of the first half remaining, poor marking cost Ashton dear as Lee Campbell scored from close range to make it 2-1.

The second half saw Lavington step up the pressure and Myles Hickton levelled when his shot went in off the post in the 51st minute.

Eight minutes later, they turned the match around totally as Bell saved from Hickton but Ben House netted the rebound.
