DIVISION Two champions AFC Trowbridge Town Youth Reserves kicked off life in Division One of the Bradfords Building Supplies Trowbridge League with an emphatic 8-3 victory over FC Northbridge.
Trowbridge dominated play from start to finish after taking an early lead through Lee Hayward.
Hayward doubled his tally a few minutes later before a shell-shocked Northbridge woke up to pull a goal back through James Starr.
Further goals then followed, with Lee Hayward grabbing his third and fourth goals. Ian Huntley made it 4-2 before Toby Dawson scored Trowbridge's fifth to make it 5-2 at the midway point.
The second period saw Trowbridge continue to apply further pressure and reap the rewards as Jamie Amaruso and Dan Amaruso increased the lead to 7-2.
Chris Johnson then made it eight, with Tom Mann scoring FC Northbridge's third.
Blue Circle got off to a poor start, conceding four goals at home to Bradford United.
Bradford had the match sewn up by half-time, going in 2-0 up thanks to goals from John Iles, Phil Read and Marin Nawrocki. The second period saw no change in luck for Circle and they conceded a fourth as Nawrocki grabbed his second goal.
The first half of the match between Seend United and The Deverills was a cagey affair.
The Deverills had the better chances but came up against some excellent defending from Seend team.
After a goal-less first half, Seend made the better start to the second half and looked a more attacking threat only to concede a goal from a corner while on top of play a goal from Matt Pinnell.
Seend upped their game again and were eventually rewarded through a spectacular 25 yard free kick from new signing James Eatough. The game then opened up with both teams going for the win and both goalkeepers making fine saves.
Seend took the lead after a great move ended with Lee Jackson heading in the second goal. There was still time for both teams to miss good chances but Seend held on to claim the win.
Life in the top flight for Steeple Ashton started off with a visit by last season's runners up Frome Town Sports and in the first half they managed to keep pace with the title favourites, going in at the break only a goal behind at 2-1.
Frank Alexander scored a brace for Frome and Guy Rowley netted for Ashton.
The second half saw a different Frome side appear eager to wrap up the match and take the points. Alexander scored to complete his hat-trick, before further goals came from Pete Sturman, Ian Kennedy and Russ Doel to complete a 6-1 win for Frome.
Warminster Town Reserves hosted Freshford United and started in a buoyant mood, scoring two goals in the first period of play through Dan Archer and John Saviour. Not to be out done, Freshford scored two with Phil Little bagging both to give a half-time score of 2-2.
The second period saw Freshford begin to dominate and eventually breakdown a stubborn Warminster defence when first Mark Birleson scored and then Neil Birleson was on target to take the honours 4-2.
NEWCOMERS FC Chippenham Youth Reserves visited Anchor and Hope, formerly AFC Trowbridge Wanderers, and for 45 minutes held the home side at bay, going in at the break 0-0.
The second half seemed to be going the same way and a draw looked on the cards only for Mel Messaoud and Luke Oakes to spoil Chippenham's day with late goals to take the spoils for Anchor and Hope.
St Andrews Winsey travelled to Frome Town Sports A and returned home with all three points after a workman like performance.
Tom Giles and Ben Hogg gave the visitors a two-goal advantage at the break and Tom Chapman added a third goal in the second half to complete a 3-0 final score line.
Relegated Heytesbury played host to Hilperton United and soon found their scoring touch.
Lee Kennedy scored the first goal in what turned out to be a hard fought out first half which ended at 1-0 at the interval.
The beginning of the second half was just as close as the first, with both teams going close to scoring before the match settled down. Kennedy tapped in Heytesbury's second, before James Vincent made it 3-0. Mark Burrell scored a consolation goal for Hilperton only to see Lee Kennedy complete a hat-trick for a 4-1 victory for Heytesbury.
Lavington and Westbury United A played out a ninety minute stalemate for a point a piece.
Semington Magpies started the new season with a home game against The Lamb Inn and both teams would like to thank Seend player Bobby Mitchell for stepping in and agreeing to referee the game at very short notice. He had a great game in the middle.
Magpies started brightly and Andrew Harrison put the home team one up early on after a great move down the wing involving Ian Rimmer. Harrison scored his second straight from a corner and his third came shortly after. Dan Rimmer made it 4-0 just before half-time.
Semington started the second half just as quickly and soon found themselves 5-0 up through Nigel Hall. Ade Bourne made it six from close range and Andrew Harrison got his fourth of the day which completed the 7-0 rout.
Division Three champions The Eleven Statues had a baptism of fire against Bratton in their first match in Division Two as they were thumped 7-1.
Bratton were four goals ahead before the home side knew what had hit them, with Ian Gray, Luke Smith, Dan Cox and Paul Bendall on target.
Statues then gradually played their way into the match and managed to score what turned out to be a consolation goal from Damien Mead.
The second half saw no respite for the beleaguered home defence as both Dan Cox and Paul Bendall scored their second goals and Paul Smith added Bratton's seventh.
TWO of the league's new teams, Broughton Gifford and Bromham Reserves, were paired together on the opening day of the season and played out an eight goal thriller to share the points.
The home team made the livelier start and were rewarded with an early goal through Chris Turk. Bromham's heads didn't drop and they soon celebrated a goal as Tom Slater struck the equaliser to make it 1-1 at the break Both teams continued to press for goals at the start of the second half and the deadlock was again broken by Turk who scored his and Broughton's second goal.
Gary Perrott then made it three for the home side, before Jack Fisher scored Bromham's second. The game then turned on two penalties. both awarded to Bromham. Jason Cole dispatched both of them with ease to give the visitors the advantage at 4-3. With time running out for the home side John Spence knocked in the equaliser.
FC Chippenham Youth A entertained The Stiffs and managed to win by the odd goal in five.
Aiden Murphy gave the home side the lead at half-time and Garry Lockes then doubled the home side's advantage before Andy Brown and Andy Barlow tied the match with goals for The Stiffs. Garry Lockes wrapped up the win for Chippenham with a last gasp effort.
New boys Great Western got their season off to a winning start by beating Rowde Sports 2-0.
Dave Wolf scored in the first half and a Rowde own goal in the second secured.
Mere Town Youth v Bratton Reserves Two more new boys were pitched together for the opening match of the season, with visitors Bratton Reserves gaining the spoils at Mere Town Youth.
The visitors were 2-0 up at the break, with goals from Jason Cox and Shane Rendell. Leon Walton pulled a goal back for Mere Town Youth midway through the second half, before Steve Wyatt scored Bratton's third.
