Bakali makes an early impression

Anchor and Hope opened up a seven point gap over their midtable opponents Heytesbury as they overcame their hosts by 2-1.

Recent signing Sami Bakali gave the visitors the lead at the half-time break.

The second period saw a determination from Heytesbury to get back into the match, and on several occasions they went close to equalising but couldn't break through.

With ten minutes left Anchor and Hope scored a second to wrap up the points, Louis Stillman grabbing the goal.

Heytesbury did manage a consolation goal through Martin Bridle in the last minute.

Hilperton United 5, FC Chippenham Youth Reserves 4

GOAL fest of the day came at Hilperton as they managed to run out winners by the odd goal in nine against FC Chippenham Youth Reserves.

After last week's heavy defeat against The Lamb Inn in the cup, Hilperton had something to prove to their supporters.

The match started at a lively pace and Chippenham found themselves in front after only two minutes through a speculative effort from Ben Pantry.

This only served as a wake-up call for Hilperton, who equalised through Mark Burrell three minutes later and then took the lead through Richard Eddy.

Steve Lewin made it 3-1 to Hilperton inside six minutes of the restart and Burrell grabbed his second to make it 4-1.

Chippenham then started and completed a fightback in a five minute period midway through the half, Matthew Spear, Garry Locke and Matthew Glover getting the all important goals to level the match.

Both teams then set about each other looking for the winner, which eventually fell to Hilperton's Andrew Zuk with only two minutes left to play.

Semington Magpies 3, Mere Town 2

SEMINGTON Magpies started the game brightly and could have been 1-0 up after only three minutes but Stuart Barber watched his effort hit the bar.

Midway through the first half Barber broke the deadlock when he ran on to a Matt Russell flick and smashed the ball into the top corner. Dan Rimmer made it 2-0 just before half-time. Andrew Harrison played a lovely through ball to Rimmer who lobbed the on rushing goalkeeper.

Rimmer scored his second goal early in the second half to put Magpies 3-0 up when he picked the ball up on the halfway line and took on four Mere players and scored a wonderful solo goal.

Mere then started to control the game and pulled a goal back through Gavin Parfitt after a long ball over the top. Nick Ward then gave Mere hope when he slotted home from another long ball over the top.

With just three minutes left Simon Hillman brilliantly cleared the ball off the line with a fantastic header to deny Mere an equaliser and to hand Magpies the three points.

The Eleven Statues 4, Frome Town Sports A 1

THE Eleven Statues have a five point lead at the top of the table after securing a 4-1 victory over Frome Town Sports A.

Matthew Allcott opened the scoring for the hosts before Phil Webley doubled the lead after 20 minutes. Neil Simms pulled a goal back for Frome after 40 minutes to make it 2-1 at half-time.

The second period saw total domination from the Statues as they scored two further goals through Aaron Blacker and Justin Rowe.

Westbury United A 2, The Lamb Inn 1

THE Lamb Inn's poor league form continued as they lost 2-1 at Westbury United A.

John Gardiner had put the hosts in front by the interval.

The Lamb Inn hoped to repeat their cup performance of last week but found Westbury hard to break down and were soon 2-0 behind as Kieran Stone doubled Westbury's lead.

The Lamb scored their solitary goal in the last five minutes through Damien Hateley.
