Surprise cup win for struggling Lamb Inn

Bottom of the table the Lamb Inn turned their poor league form around as they gained a 3-2 victory over leaders the Eleven Statues in their first round, first leg match in the E J Shanley and Son Limited-sponsored Division Two Cup.

The Lamb opened the scoring through Dan Filer and doubled their lead midway through the half when Damien Hateley scored.

The Statues pulled a goal back just before half-time, but the second period was only a few minutes old when Hateley scored his second goal to make it 3-1 to the bottom side.

The Eleven Statues got themselves back into the game with their second goal to make sure they stayed in touch for the second leg in two weeks' time.

Lavington 7, Bratton 0

BRATTON'S run in this cup competition looks almost over as they succumbed to a 7-0 defeat at Lavington.

Myles Hickton started Lavington's scoring spree after 26 minutes and it became 2-0 two minutes later as Jamie Bayes scored.

A 41st minute penalty was converted by Bayes to make it 3-0 after a Bratton defender handled inside the box. Lavington made it 4-0 on the stroke of halftime as Myles Hickton scored his second goal.

The second period got no better for the visitors as two minutes after the break it was 5-0 as Hickton completed a well deserved hat-trick. Rob Hannah took his opportunity on 68 minutes to make it 6-0 before Hickton rounded off the scoring after 74 minutes with his fourth goal of the match.

Bratton played out the last 12 minutes with only 10 men after Kerry Wilson limped off with a groin strain after all their substitutes had been used.

Mere Town 3, Semington Magpies 0

MERE Town missed a hatful of chances against Semington Magpies but still managed a 3-0 victory, thanks to first half goals from Wayne Farnell and Chris Parfitt and a Nick Ward strike midway through the second half.

Westbury United A 4, Anchor and Hope 1

WESTBURY secured a 4-1 first leg victory over 10 man Anchor and Hope.

Phil Rowlands got Westbury off to the perfect start as he scored after five minutes and he then made it 2-0 after a mix-up in the Anchor and Hope defence.

Adil Bakali pulled a goal back for the visitors just before the break.

The second half started disastrously for Anchor and Hope as they found themselves down to 10 men with Salim Bekkaoui getting himself sent off.

It then got worse as they conceded two quick goals, Deon Matheson and Chris Storey netting to seal the match.
