FC Chippenham Youth A booked their place in the first round of
the AM Print and Copy of Westbury-sponsored Spring Cup by convincingly
beating Bradford United Reserves 4-0.
At the interval the home side went in trailing to Aaron Merryweather's
strike and the second half was only seconds old when Dale Knaggs doubled
Chippenham's lead.
The match then settled down with both teams playing some nice attacking
football, but only Chippenham could capitalise and they scored another two
goals through Merryweather to complete his hat-trick.
Calne Eagles v Trowbridge Wanderers
TROWBRIDGE Wanderers claimed a 2-1 win over Calne Eagles in a very open and
entertaining game at Stanley Park.
Calne Eagles started brightly and their good possession was rewarded when
new signing Adam Bewley set up Brett Cullen, who confidently struck home his
third goal in as many games.
Wanderers then played their way back into the game and created some decent
chances, Jamie Moth coming closest when he sent a close range shot just
wide.

In the second half Wanderers played with the wind and forced Calne Eagles to
defend for extended periods. But Calne Eagles were always dangerous on the
break and looked just as likely to score as they did in the first half, most
notably when Adam Bewley put a shot over the bar from close range with the
score still 1-0.
With half an hour left Wanderers got their equaliser when an in-swinging
corner wasn't cleared and Charlie Haydon squeezed the ball in to the net
from close range, past a despairing tackle from Darren Axford.
Ten minutes later Haydon struck again, this time with a clean strike from
just inside the box.
Calne Eagles pushed forward in search of an equaliser and Brett Cullen was
denied a second goal when goalkeeper Liam Newbie saved bravely with only
five minutes remaining.
After that Trowbridge Wanderers defended well and held on to claim their
place in the next round.
