United through with late goal rush

2:26pm Monday 4th February 2008

Bradford United scored three goals in the last ten minutes to snatch a 6-4 away win over Blue Circle in the second round of the Chantry Digital Limited of Trowbridge-sponsored Knockout Cup.

Sean Sheppard opened the scoring for the home side to give them an early lead only for minutes later to see the match tied when United's Luke Davison tapped home from close range.

United then started to dominate play and were rewarded with the lead on 25 minutes through a goal from Jake Davison. Not to be outdone Blue Circle began a fight back and with ten minutes of the first half left scored an equaliser through Darryl Maxwell.

The first half scoring did not stop there and just before the break United found themselves back in front as Luke Davison grabbed his second goal.

Blue Circle started the second period much the better side and were soon back on level terms through a goal from Wayne Bristow and it then got better for them as they nudged back in front on the hour mark as Ryan Earney scored to make it 4-3.

The next ten minutes saw relentless pressure from the Bradford side who went in search of the equaliser and Circle's goal leading a charmed life.

With some ten minutes of the game remaining Bradford stepped up a gear and scored three quick goals through Dan Hutchinson and Paul Edwards (2) to secure victory and progress to the next round.
