Lavington and AFC Trowbridge Town Reserves fought out a superb
3-3 draw in the second round of the Pied Piper Promotions-sponsored A and B
Cup.
With the match only minutes old Lavington missed a golden opportunity to go
one up as Myles Hickton's shot flashed just wide of the Trowbridge post.
Not to be out done Trowbridge then missed a couple of easy chances
themselves. The breakthrough came after 21 minutes as Lee Hayward coolly
slotted past the advancing Mike Burton in the Lavington goal.
It was 2-0 four minutes later as Hayward netted his second as the Lavington
defence just stood and watched.
With both teams playing end-to-end football another goal was sure to arrive
and it came with three minutes of the half remaining and fell to Lavington's
Myles Hickton.
With the second period only five minutes old Lavington caught Trowbridge
napping at the back and found themselves on level terms as Jamie Bayes
darted in to score. Nine minutes later Lavington took the lead as Bayes
grabbed his second goal of the match which totally stunned the opposition.
