Mere Town Youth overcame FC Chippenham Youth A 4-1 in the AM Print and Copy of Westbury-sponsored Spring Cup.

By half-time Mere had a comfortable 3-0 lead, thanks to goals from Ben Strong, Matthew Carter and Josh Stainer.

With the interval just over three became four as Tom Young scored to put the match beyond Chippenham.

A consolation goal for Chippenham came from the penalty spot, Mick Austin scoring.

Broughton Gifford 2, Trowbridge Wanderers 3

TROWBRIDGE Wanderers needed extra-time to book their place in the next round after a hard fought battle at Broughton Gifford.

The first half finished goal-less after both teams missed several good chances.

The deadlock was broken midway through the second half as Leigh Rowles-Hitchcock scored for Broughton, but the lead was short lived as Nigel Penelhum struck back for Wanderers two minutes later.

With the game level at 90 minutes extra time saw Broughton regain the lead as Rowles-Hitchcock scored his second goal. With time running out, Wanderers tied the match again as Charlie Heydon scored. The final minute then saw Heydon break the hearts of the Broughton players as he grabbed his second and the winner.

Bromham Reserves 1, Great Western 0

IN a bad tempered match which saw two players sent off and four cautioned, Bromham Reserves beat Great Western 1-0 with a converted penalty from Jason Cole deep into second half stoppage time.
