Bradford United Reserves had a fairly comfortable 3-0 win
over Bratton Reserves, their goalkeeper not having a save to make during the
whole match, despite Bratton having one or two chances on the break.
United's greater determination and share of possession saw them take the
lead on the half-hour through Skip Ayoub, who added a second 15 minutes into
the second half.
Jon Williams added a third 10 minutes before full time which eventually
sparked a response from Bratton but that was too little, too late.
Broughton Gifford 1, Trowbridge Wanderers 4
A RAIN soaked pitch hosted the meatiest clash of the day between Trowbridge
Wanderers and Broughton Gifford.
With the match switched to The Common, Broughton hosted the visitors for the
third time in six weeks.
Broughton started strongly and attacked from deep only for a few chances to
dwindle away. Wanderers defended well and managed to cause a stir with a
couple of testing shots.

It was the Trowbridge-based side that took the lead when Mark Reynolds took
hold of the ball on the left and sweetly placed his shot past the
outstretched keeper and into the net.
Broughton Gifford fought back and had a few chances though nothing to test
the Wanderers goalkeeper.
Broughton rode their luck and broke away with some incisive passing. Leigh
Rowles-Hitchcock was brought down in the area by the goalkeeper and a
penalty awarded. Up stepped Chris Turk to add to his impressive tally, only
for his effort to be blasted wide.
Wanderers gathered pace and had a penalty denied them when the Broughton
Gifford goalkeeper brought down Tom Pang in the area. But Pang had the last
laugh when a slow defence played him onside for him to smash the ball home.
After some heavy protests from the opposition about the offside decision,
the referee gave the goal and it was 3-0 to Wanderers.
After half-time it was Broughton on the attack again but some instinctive
saves from Liam Newble kept them quiet along with Jamie Moth and James
Harman with a tough display in the centre of the park.
Mark Reynolds teed up Pang again only for him to square it to Nigel Penelhum
who saw his shot saved by the Broughton goalkeeper. Broughton were given a
lifeline when the referee gave a penalty for holding and Leigh
Rowles-Hitchcock smashed home his spot kick.
But their joy was short lived when a quick free-kick gave Pang the freedom
of the goalmouth to maintain a three goal advantage.
Chris Penelhum came on to steady the ship and almost created as many chances
as his minutes on the field. A delightfully crafted one-two set up with a
back heel saw Paul Reynolds come close, and Penelhum almost bagged a goal
himself, weaving through the defence with some trickery only to see his shot
superbly finger tipped clear.
Despite some good keeping from both sides the game went to Trowbridge
Wanderers who were happy to see their clinical finishing take three
important points back home.
Calne Eagles 9, FC Chippenham Youth A 1
CALNE Eagles completed the double over FC Chippenham Youth A with an
emphatic 9-1 win at Stanley Park.
The first half was very open, with both teams playing some good football,
but it was Calne who scored first after 15 minutes when Jamie Davies
finished off a neat move.
They doubled their lead ten minutes later when Brett Cullen tapped one in at
the far post following good work from Shaun Jefferies. With 30 minutes
gone, it looked like Eagles had wrapped up the points when Jamie Davies
scored from the penalty spot, but shortly before half-time a very good
finish from Kotse Petrov gave FC Chippenham some hope.
Within a minute of the second half kicking off, Calne regained their three
goal lead when a poor back-pass let in Jamie Davies to complete his
hat-trick.
From then on, Calne took complete control. Shaun Jefferies scored two good
goals, both set up by Darren Axford, before centre-back Roy Wenham coolly
slotted home a penalty to make it 7-1.
Shaun Jefferies completed his hat-trick before substitute Steve Roberts
rounded off the scoring.
Mere Town Youth 4, The Stiffs 3
THIS bottom of the table clash saw Mere Town Youth increase the points gap
over The Stiffs.
Ben Strong put Mere in front after ten minutes and made it 2-0 five minutes
later.
Rob Elliott pulled a goal back for The Stiffs after an error in the Mere
defence but Strong then completed his hat-trick on the stroke of half-time
to give Mere a 3-1 lead.
The second half started with Adam Scourse increasing Mere's lead to 4-1
before The Stiffs began a mini-revival as they scored two quick goals,
through Pete Ford and Rob Elliott, to set up a tense last ten minutes but
they couldn't find the equalising goal.
Bromham Reserves 2, Rowde Sports 2
WITH Great Western not playing, Bromham Reserves went top after being held
to a 2-2 draw by Rowde Sports.
Rowde had a one goal lead at the break after a solo goal from Jamie
Mullings.
Dan Paget equalised for Bromham eight minutes into the second half and they
went in front as Jason Cole scored.
Rowde continued to push forward in search of an equaliser and with ten
minutes left they found the net through Jamie Selby.
