Bradford United Reserves and Mere Town Youth shared the spoils in a six goal thriller in a tale of two halves.

Mere went ahead through a speculative shot from Wayne Stokes that the Bradford keeper thought was going wide but the ball went in off the post.

They then extended their lead with a header from a free kick after 20 minutes, Ben Strong scoring.

The second period belonged to Bradford as they hit back with an own goal immediately from the restart which was then followed five minutes later by a fine 30 yard strike by Jamal Ayoub. Skip Ayoub then put Bradford ahead but Mere fought back to equalise 15 minutes from time through Adam Scourse.

Bromham Reserves 7, The Stiffs 0

BROMHAM did their goal difference the world of good as they put seven goals past luckless The Stiffs.

Jim Sandiford opened the scoring for Bromham with the match only minutes old. He then doubled the lead six minutes later before completing his hat-trick inside 15 minutes.

Goal number four came from Anthony Butler on the half hour mark and with half-time approaching Jack Fisher made it 5-0.

With the match over Bromham eased off the gas in the second half but still scored a further two goals, with Anthony Butler grabbing his second and Dean Rudman completing the score line.

Broughton Gifford 4, Rowde Sports 3

THIRD placed Broughton Gifford came from behind to seal the points against Rowde Sports.

Rowde started the game much better than their hosts, dominated the early play and took the lead after 20 minutes through Adam Gainey. Five minutes later it was 2-0 as Gainey netted his second.

A stunned Broughton then lurched into life and began to fight back and they pulled a goal back after 32 minutes through Leigh Rowles-Hitchcock.

Just 40 seconds later it was all-square as Chris Turk capitalised on an error by the Rowde goalkeeper.

With a further four minutes on the clock Broughton managed to turn the match around and found themselves in front as Leigh Rowles- Hitchcock scored his second for a 3-2 lead at the interval.

After 58 minutes Rowde tied the match as Jamie Selby scored.

Two minutes later Broughton won the match with a bizarre goal as Simon Gilbert pumped the forward from his own half for Rowles-Hitchcock to run onto, and, with Rowde's keeper diving at his feet, the ball bounced up and over the pair of them and into the back of the net.

FC Chippenham Youth A 4, Bratton Reserves 2

FC CHIPPENHAM Youth A dominated their match against Bratton Reserves from start to finish and came away with all three points thanks to a 4-2 win.

Three first half goals from Nick Austin (2) and Darren Tubbs gave the home side a comfortable lead at the interval.

The second period saw Chippenham go four goals up as Andy Wilcox scored before a brace from Adam Berrisford pulled two goals back for Bratton.

Great Western 4, Calne Eagles 2

CHAMPIONS-elect Great Western claimed a further three points with a 4-2 win at the Recreation Ground, but they were made to work hard against a spirited Calne Eagles.

Playing with the wind, Great Western took the lead in the very first minute when Calne goalkeeper Andy Windsor could only parry a well struck free-kick into the path of Luke Wolfe who was on hand to score a simple tap-in.

Great Western dominated possession for the remainder of the half and could have doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Darren Axford brought down Luke Wolfe just inside the area. Wolfe took the penalty himself, only to see Andy Windsor save his third penalty of the season.

However, the unrelenting pressure finally told when only five minutes before the break, Calne centre-back Roy Wenham put the ball through his own net as he tried to clear a corner. A minute later it appeared the game was over when Russell Gibbings raced clean-through and finished convincingly to make it 3-0.

Calne had the best possibly start to the second-half when Danny Thompson scored direct from the kick-off, catching Great Western goalkeeper James Whitehead unawares.

This gave Eagles the lift they needed and the game became much more evenly balanced.

Both teams played some good football with Great Western's Dave Wolfe and Calne Eagles' sub Nick Cawley both going close. With 20 minutes remaining, Danny Thompson once again decided to shoot from distance, this time from a free-kick, which was at least 5 yards inside his own half. Once again, James Whitehead struggled to deal with the shot and could only parry it onto the cross bar. Nick Cawley reacted quickest and fired the loose ball into the roof of the net.

Calne Eagles finished the game the stronger team and they saw shots from both Darren Axford and Tom Evans narrowly miss the target, but they could not get the break they needed, and with virtually the last kick of the game Great Western sealed the points when Luke Wolfe fired home his second goal of the match following a corner kick.

Trowbridge Wanderers 3, Seend United Reserves 0

THIS midtable clash saw Wanderers come out on top against Seend United Reserves.

Nigel Penelhum scored the only goal of the first half to give Trowbridge the lead.

The second period saw a further two goals, from Mark Reynolds and Chris Penelhum, as Trowbridge ran out 3-0 winners.
