Westbury United A built up a healthy advantage in their
semi-final against The Eleven Statues by winning the first leg of their E J
Shanley and Son Limited-sponsored Division Two Cup semi-final 4-0 at Meadow
Lane on Friday night.
Westbury played much the better football and by half-time had a 2-0 lead,
thanks to goals from Mark Pearce and Matthew Friendship.
The second period was played out much the same as the first, with Westbury
scoring two further goals, through Andy Goodenough and a second for Mark
Pearce.
Mere Town 1, Lavington 3
LAVINGTON are only 90 minutes away from their third cup final of the season
as they take a 3-1 lead back to Davis Field for the second leg.
Sean Jones got Mere off to a great start as he opened the scoring with only
minutes on the clock, but Lavington weren't behind for long as Myles Hickton
levelled.
The second half saw both teams playing attacking football, but it was
Lavington who got the break as Hickton scored his second of the tie to make
it 2-1.
