Lavington marched into the final of the E J Shanley and
Son Limited-sponsored Division Two Cup after overcoming Mere Town 5-2 on
the day and by 8-3 on aggregate.

they could and they scored the first goal through Wesley Palmer after only
ten minutes.
Not to be outdone, Mere hit back with a converted penalty from Chris Parfitt
six minutes later.
With Lavington still pushing forward and controlling the game they scored a
second through Myles Hickton to make it 2-1 at score at half-time.
The second period saw no relief for Mere as Lavington put on attack after
attack and broke through again, this time Jamie Bayes scoring. Midway
through the half Bayes scored again to make it 4-1 and put the tie well and
truly beyond Mere.
To add insult to injury Mere then scored an unfortunate own goal through
Richard Cornford to make it 5-1.
