CHIPPENHAM Town midfielder Mark Badman says he is not concerned his side may
have to play two away games in the play-offs to seal promotion to the
Conference South.
The Bluebirds look likely to end the Southern League season in fourth or
fifth, meaning two away games could be waiting for Adie Mings' men.
Chippenham have not won a game against any of the other top six sides away
from Hardenhuish Park this season, although they still have Team Bath to
play at Twerton Park on April 26.
Mings' men have only managed two goals in five away games against the top
sides.
Despite the results midfielder Badman said that should his team qualify,
they will go into the play-offs in buoyant mood.
Badman said: "Playing away isn't a big concern, we're pretty confident at
the moment. If we have to play two away games we've done that before. We're
quite an experienced side when it comes to the play-offs and missing out for
two years will help us a lot.

"If we do get to the play-offs it's just a one-off game and I think we can
match anyone in a one-off game."
Badman said the play-offs were open this year, but he could see positives in
taking on well-supported Norfolk outfit King's Lynn.
Badman said: "Everyone can beat everyone really, whoever performs on the day
will win.
"King's Lynn is a good place to go and it could work in our favour. The
crowd seems to spur us on.
"The play-offs are a test, obviously sometimes a team may do something which
is unbelievable like when the lad scored the winning goal (Tom Bonner for
Bedford Town in 2006), you can't do a lot about that."
Badman believes Chippenham's young team have the grit to come through the
play-offs.
Badman said: "It's a test of bottle and I think our lads have got enough in
our locker.
"We've got a lot of young lads but they've matured very quickly which a lot
of people didn't think they would be able to do.
"They have adapted well and when we pass the ball we look far better than
most teams in our league.
"Adie's got a lot of faith in us, the lads know that and that will help
them."
Badman has never experienced promotion in football but has twice tasted
play-off heartache with Chippenham, and the wounds still run deep for the
midfield talisman.
Badman said: "It's terrible. One of the worst was when we had to play Histon
in the last game of the season.
"We had to win and they won 1-0 and got promoted, it's a heartbreaking
thing."
