CHIPPENHAM Town manager Adie Mings says he wants "maximum effort" when his
side take on relegated Cheshunt in their crucial Southern League Premier
Division clash in Hertfordshire today.
The Bluebirds can ensure a play-off spot with three points against the
beleaguered outfit.
But a draw or defeat could give Gloucester City a chance to steal a play-off
spot on the final day of the season, should they beat King's Lynn at the New
Lawn this afternoon.
Mings has been unhappy with some of his side's performances in recent weeks
and says nothing less than total commitment will do against the Ambers.
Mings said: "You don't need to be looking at league tables or anything like
that.
"It's a case of putting out our best performance because if we drop below
our standards we could come unstuck.

"No game is easy and you only get out of it what you put in. The last couple
of weeks, players haven't been putting enough in.
"We've got two league games left and then hopefully a semi-final to look
forward to and you're asking for maximum effort.
"The players have come so far and they would like to try and achieve
something.
"I think they know they aren't going to be able to do that unless they
really focus themselves.
"All we need to do is concentrate on ourselves and not worry about anyone
else."
Football fans have long disputed the fairness of the play-offs, but the
Bluebirds boss could see plenty of positives in the current Southern League
system.
Mings said: "At the end of the day everybody knows the rules at the start of
the season.
"Right until the final few weeks there were sides as far as 10th that could
have pushed on and got a play-off place.
"It keeps everyone's season alive and it's good for the supporters.
"In past seasons it hasn't always been the second best side that has been
promoted.
"It leaves it open for the side that finishes fifth to have a chance of
promotion."
Mings said he would not take any special measures with his team in the
lead-up to the Cheshunt clash, despite the importance of the match.
Mings said: "It's no different to any other game. It's just a game where
you've got to prepare like you would for any other.
"It's about getting back to what we do best and that's winning football
matches."
Chippenham were easy winners against Cheshunt at Hardenhuish Park in
September, crushing their opponents 5-1.
