CHIPPENHAM Rugby Club coach Rob Alford says he is right behind gym partner
and Chippenham Town boss Adie Mings as he and his young side look to inch
closer to promotion to the Conference South tomorrow.
Mings' Chippenham play Cheshunt tomorrow and need a win to ensure their
play-off place, and Alford wants the football team to make it a double for
the town as his rugby side have just gone up to South West One.
The two bosses have known each other for years and exchange managerial notes
when they see each other in the gym at The Olympiad.
The relationship goes back a long way as Alford was in the same year as
Mings' older brother Vic at Sheldon School.
Adie Mings' nephew also plays rugby at Chippenham.
Alford said: "I've known Adie since I was little and we often exchange our
views on rugby and football.

"We talk about how we're getting on at the time and we have our thoughts on
players and training.
"We're both Chippenham blokes who want our respective clubs to do as well as
we can.
"I always look for the scores in the paper, it's one of the first things I
do. I will be wishing him luck as the season comes to an end.
"We want Chippenham to do well on the sporting front."
Chippenham Town boss Mings was generous in his praise for the town's rugby
team.
Mings said: "I'd like to congratulate Chippenham on the fantastic
achievement of gaining promotion, to Rob and all the management and the
players as well.
"I think we know as managers how hard it is week-in week-out, picking the
right teams and struggling with injuries.
"I hope rugby and football in Chippenham has got something to cheer come the
end of May."
