CHIPPENHAM Town forward Sam Allison is hoping to end his play-off heartache
and make it third time lucky this season.
The striker is in his fourth season with the Bluebirds and has experienced
play-off agony twice during that time.
Allison believes Chippenham are better equipped to go up to the Conference
South than any other team he has played with during his time at the club.
Allison said: "During pre-season I looked around and thought, Is there
anyone who can threaten my place?' It looked like a young side that had a
lot of flair and pace but not much experience.
"But in my era it's been the best football Chippenham has ever played. It's
frightening how it's moulded so quickly.
"We haven't achieved anything yet but what we have got is brilliant, and
that's testament to manager Adie Mings and the management staff. Hopefully
it's third time lucky. Hopefully I'm in the team and we can actually win it.

"We've got to the stage of the season where everyone's thinking. Let's go
for it now'.
"If you look at sides like Bath City and Salisbury, which we've competed
with in the past, they have kicked on."
"In this team we've got so many players that can go forward and score goals
and we're starting to perform defensively. I personally think it's the best
team we've had. Maybe not on paper, but as a team.
"I don't think a lot of people realise what we've achieved because we've
been so good at times. They expect it week-in week-out and don't take into
consideration that we're a young side and get injuries and little things
like that.
"That can put you down a bit but Adie has managed to pick us up and keep us
going throughout the season."
Allison, a former England under 18 international, added: "Adie keeps us so
much on our toes, you can't even think you're going to be in the team. It
makes you a bit nervous but I think that's the way it should be."
Allison is already looking forward to the play-off semi-final at Halesowen,
a team he has played only 33 minutes against in two appearances this season.
The cheery forward formed his own opinions as he sat in the stand and sees
plenty of reasons to be optimistic for the upcoming tie.
Allison said: "I think in the first match we gave them too much respect, we
went there and maybe wanted to get a point because they were flying so high.
"But it looked like we were holding our own and I think we could have won
the match quite easily.
"It's not going to be an easy match but we'll be going there in a positive
mood to get a positive result."
