WILTSHIRE'S last Minor Counties Championship Western Division match of the season against Wales at Trowbridge ended in a draw earlier today.

No play was possible on either the first or third days due to a waterlogged pitch and only 60 overs were possible on the second day.

Heavy rain on the Saturday meant the first day on Sunday but when play started 45 minutes late on the Monday, Wiltshire won the toss and asked Wales to bat.

The visitors were soon in trouble as they lost their first threewickets in 10 balls without scoring a run.

Jack Murphy (69) and Aneurin Norman (30) put on 83 for the fourth wicket but when Murphy was run out they collapsed and were all out for 128.

Tahir Afridi took 6-37 and Jake Roberts 2-33.

Wiltshire’s start was even worse, as they lost their first six wickets for only nine runs, but with Steve Bullen and Tom Bowler starting to build a partnership, they had reached 23 when the heavens opened.

That not only finished play for the day but also for the last day when the match was abandoned at 9am this morning, Wiltshire earning eight points and Wales six.

Wiltshire’s final match of the season is away to Herefordshire at Brockhampton on Sunday-Tuesday, August 18-20.
