WHEN we did get to play on Sunday, we bowled pretty well but I just don’t think any of the players were used to playing on a wicket like that.

Only Wales’ number three, Jack Murphy, looked good on it.

Joe Breet did an excellent job in mixing up our bowlers, meaning that Tahir Afridi could bowl again just before tea and take a few more wickets.

He was well supported by everyone else and we did really well to bowl them out.

But once again, our batting was a bit disappointing and we really were in trouble after losing six wickets for just nine runs.

It would have been interesting to see where the game went from there because Steve Bullen or Tom Bowler could have gone on to put a few runs on the board but in the end, it was irrelevant.

We ended up getting the most bonus points out of the game and up to this point in the season, we’ve picked up more than any other team in the Western and Eastern divisions – but we’re still near the bottom in the table.

The season really has flown by when you think that we’ve only got one game left (away to Herefordshire on August 18-20) and we haven’t really got a lot to play for in that one.

We’ll have to check on availability this weekend but it’s a good chance to change the team around a bit and have a look at a few different people.

We’ve used most of the squad so far this year and it’s the right chance to have a look at a few things for the future.

The weather didn’t just affect us and it looks like it was the same up in Manchester during the Ashes last weekend.

There’s nothing either side could do about the weather and it means that England have retained it, which is great.

The weather is just part and parcel of the game and it’ll be interesting to see what happens in the last couple of test matches and if England will blood a few new faces with one eye on the series over in Australia.

But the Aussies will want to regain some respectability.
