ALL-ROUNDER Michael Coles will return to Corsham for the 2014 season.

Former captain Coles, who played for the Station Road club between 2006-08, has agreed a return to the Wadworth 6X West of England Premier League Premier One side, who finished eighth in the division earlier this summer.

The powerful right-handed opening batsmen and medium seam bowler was the WEPL’s leading run scorer in 2013 with 826 runs at an average of 51.

He also contributed 18 wickets.

Coles made particular headlines with the bat in 2013, clubbing 246 from just 156 balls for Bridgwater against Illminster.

Remarkably, he followed that up the next day, smashing a stunning innings of 221 not out for Wiltshire in their three-day Minor Counties Championship Western Division clash against Shropshire at South Wilts.

It was the highest total ever by a Wiltshire batsman in the Minor Counties Championship.

Coles also hit an unbeaten 185 off 163 balls for his county against Herefordshire at Brockhampton in their final championship match.

The club are hoping Coles’ return can help a young side achieve the heights of 2012, when they finished inside the top four.
