NED Jones claimed 5-22 as Corsham seconds earned a 62-run win at home to their Thornbury counterparts in Premier One 2nd XI.

Jonathan Parker (69) and Will Wales (63) were the mainstay of the Corsham innings as they posted 233-8.

After a few early inroads by Luke Curtis (2-32) in Thornbury’s reply, Jones ripped through the tail to skittle the visitors at 171 all out.

An unbeaten 123 from Jordan Rose inspired Potterne to a six-wicket victory at home to Goatacre in Premier Two 2nd XI.

Chris Chapman (68no) was the only Goats batsman to pass a half-century as his team reached 229-9.

The hosts completed the run chase with ease as Rose saw his side over the line on 232-4 with more than 14 overs to spare.

A target of 161 proved too much for Chippenham at Rockhampton as they lost by 41 runs in the Glos/Wilts 2nd XI.

The hosts were indebted to Sam Nichols’ 75 while Steve Merryweather (3-21) and Frankie Vaz (3-39) led the charge for Chippenham, for whom Pete Sykes top-scored with 32 as they were all out for 120.

Kevin Ridley (64) and Will Thomas (60) helped Marlborough to a narrow one-wicket home victory against Gloucester AIW Sports.

Malmesbury kept up the chase on Wiltshire 2nd XI leaders Lechlade with a second straight win, a three-wicket success over Burbage & Easton Royal. Edward Shellard (4-7) and Richard Mosdell (4-23) both shone with the ball as Burbage were all out for 99, with Malmesbury edging to 100-7 in reply.

Freddie Good’s 5-19 helped Great Bedwyn thrash Devizes by 132 runs. Phil Cheese top scored with 67 as Bedwyn posted 209-7 and they then dismissed Devizes for 77.

Daniel Watson’s 84 and Colin Sinkins’ 71 were in vain as Marshfield’s 234-5 was not enough to avoid a five-wicket defeat by visiting Purton.

Trowbridge got the better of a low-scoring contest at home to Calne, finishing on 111-3 in reply to the visitors 110 all out.
