CRAIG Chaplin claimed a fabulous five-wicket haul as Corsham beat local rivals Bath by 42 runs in Premier One 2nd XI Division.

Simon Crampton plundered 82 to help as the home side posted 209-6 off their 45 overs at Station Road.

Luke Tapsfield (68) and Zachary Millar (38) led a strong Bath reply and got them past the 100 mark for the loss of one wicket but the introduction of Chaplin (5-31) into the attack decimated the innings.

Paul Clifford (3-26) also chipped in as Bath collapsed to 167 all out.

A brilliant Potterne bowling display set up a four-wicket win over Taunton St Andrews in Premier Two 2nd XI.

Liam Cutler claimed 4-20 as Taunton perished for 145, while there were two wickets apiece for Andrew Woodward, Josh Hodder and John Bramwell.

Matt Pringle’s 3-28 caused Potterne a few problems in reply but 46 from Jordan Rose helped them get over the line at 146-6 in the 42nd over.

Goatacre suffered a seven-wicket defeat when they entertained Warminster.

Christopher Watchman (37) and Thomas Cutler (35) were the brief highlights of a lacklustre batting display as the Goats were all out for 148.

An unbeaten 50 from Nathan Bond saw Warminster chase that down with relative ease.

In Glos/Wilts 2nd XI Division, Chippenham made hard work of chasing down Winsley’s 179 before eventually bagging a three-wicket win.

Craig Fry (4-24) and Will Couzens (4-43) dominated with the ball as only Giles Williams (66) and Josh Lewis (47) provided any resistance for Winsley.

The Chippenham reply was stop-start but Peter Sykes contributed 47 as they edged home on 180-7.

A two-pronged attack from Pete Boorman and Philip Paterson saw Marlborough destroyed by nine wickets by Dumbleton.

Boorman took 4-21 and Paterson claimed 3-31 as Marlborough were all out for 140 and then hit 49 and 51 not out respectively to wrap up an easy win.

Leaders Burbage & Easton Royal beat Devizes in Wiltshire Division 2nd XI, while there were also victories for Calne over Westbury and Marshfield over Malmesbury.

However, Great Bedwyn were beaten on their trip to Trowbridge.
