WE’RE at the end of the season once again and it seems to have absolutely flown by.

The one-day competition was over before we knew it and the three-day games have flown by as well – we’ve got one more game left against Oxfordshire and then that’s it.

A good result could see us leapfrog Cornwall into third-place. We’ve done well in the three-day competition since the winless season (in 2013) by winning the league last year and finishing third would be great.

Oxfordshire are top of the table and they’ll be coming to us looking to try and win the game.

They can’t really rely on a draw, so they need to try and pick up their batting and bowling points to win the championship – of course, if Berkshire, who are second, slip up, then they may not need as a big a margin.

It should be an exciting game and if they’re trying to win that game, that could open up some gaps for us.

But last season, Oxfordshire did us a favour by beating Cheshire in Nantwich, which allowed us to win the title, so maybe they’ll be expecting a favour from us.

If they do manage to beat us, they’ll be deserved winners because they’ll have won five of their six games. We know from experience how difficult it is to win matches in this division, so that would be a fantastic achievement.

Ed Young has probably been our most succesful player with the bat this year and he comes back into the team. He also scored 150 for Potterne on the weekend.

Andy Carroll is working, so Jake Roberts comes in for him.

I’m really happy that Patrick Grieshaber and Michael Coles hit some runs for us last time out against Herefordshire – that was a fantastic game of cricket - and Neil Clark got himself into a bit of form too, which is good news for us.

We want to try and perform well again and take a bit of momentum into next season.

It’s nice that we’re finishing at home but last season, we won the championship away (at Shropshire), so it’s not that much of an issue.

I’m due to have a knee operation tomorrow. It was supposed to be today but it got pushed back a day, which isn’t great for cricket.

I’m hoping that I can get to Devizes for the first day on Sunday but I think that I may be a little bit groggy.
